Paddy Procurement in Odisha for Kharif season extended up to 30th April said by Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs department Joint Secretary Bijay Kumar Prusty. Also Prusty said to media that department earlier time send a proposal to center govt for extending the date to march and this proposal now accepted by Government of India. He is also said that Paddy procurement for the Kharif was is started from Bargarh district on 29th November 2016 and out of thirty district Odisha twenty nine districts this Paddy procurement is in progress.
He is said that Paddy Procurement is more than five percent for comparing last years. As per the information in 29 districts a total 17.45 lakh tonnes is produced and department is already given Rs 2012 crore credited to farmers accounts said by department Joint Secretary. He is said that millers are delivering rice to govt after processing to paddy in month wise. He is also said that state govt also taken necessary steps for this purpose. As per the source last 16.63 lakh tonnes of paddy is produced in last year and it expected that it will increase this year.
